TOTAL MASS RETAIN (map of Nazca plain)

wire and acrylic on a desktop, 62" X 40", 2006

Finally it is finished!!! A piece I have been planning and researching for some time now is complete at last. It is a loose depiction of an aerial view of the Nazca plain in southern Peru where, thousands of years ago, the entire valley was etched with these forms as well as a vast network of lines, triangles, rectangles, and trapezoids. The great rectangle in the middle was set up to precisely denote the rising of the constellation Pleiades. The title comes from the Yes song "Close to the Edge."  Below are some detail pictures.
